Improving Education

Support programs that renovate outdated classrooms, and eliminate overcrowding in schools. North Carolinians are experiencing an unacceptable decline in their school systems and deserve better for their children. I believe that our schools must be key targets of infrastructure development, which will help create jobs in the short and long term.

Support of education reform to better prepare high school graduates for productive careers. I will support local initiatives for technical and vocational training in our high schools.

Keep children in school. Education is the key to enabling our children to build better lives for themselves and their communities. I will work with local and state leaders to advance programs that work to improve our declining graduation rate.

Continue student loan rate reduction. Our nation’s young adults are increasingly buried in debt that diminishes their ability to accumulate wealth for years. I support efforts to responsibly reduce this debt burden and increase access to higher education.
